This week we came across several excellent, fun games which help kids gain an understanding of basic physics: how objects interact with one another, how different materials behave, the effects of gravity, etc.

Our three favorites (so far) can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike:

1. Line Rider™: The object of this game is to simply have fun by drawing a track and watching your skier go down it. Kids will enjoy seeing how the skier interacts with their creations and will undoubtedly make several modifications to see what will happen. Tracks may be saved and the Line Rider community has taken advantage of this to make so pretty amazing creations which you can see at the Line Rider site.
2. Crayon Physics: This game mixes drawing and puzzles to create an engaging world where drawings come to life. The object is to get the red ball to the star (the goal) by drawing objects to move and guide the ball. You're given complete freedom to play and try as many different solutions as you like.
3. Launchball: This game takes "get the ball to the goal" puzzles up a notch by introducing a variety of building blocks: springs, batteries, magnets, fans, conveyor belts, and much more. Young children may not be able to complete the puzzles without help but they will certainly enjoy experimenting and watching the results.
